O365 Migration: migrate OneDrive with a CSV file
Copy each user's OneDrive to the destination tenant – folders and files with their dates – from a CSV of source and destination users.
The CSV
| Column | Required | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| SourceUser | Yes | User principal name or e-mail address in the source tenant |
| DestinationUser | Yes | User principal name or e-mail address in the destination tenant |
| DestinationFolder | No | A folder in the destination OneDrive to copy into, for example From Contoso; empty = the root |
SourceUser,DestinationUser,DestinationFolder
jane.doe@contoso.com,jane.doe@fabrikam.com,From Contoso
john.smith@contoso.com,john.smith@fabrikam.com,
You can also click Add from source to pick users, then Fill destinations to set every destination to the same name at a new domain.
Before you start
- The destination users need a license that includes OneDrive, and their OneDrive must exist: the user opened it once, or an administrator pre-provisioned it with
Request-SPOPersonalSite. - Click Check: it finds both users and both OneDrives, and explains any that are missing.
What is copied
- All folders and files, with their created and modified dates. Large files are copied in parts.
- Copy if newer (the default) makes a second run copy only changed files, so you can run a final catch-up before switching users over.
- Sharing links and permissions are not copied, so nobody receives a notification. Share again in the new tenant where needed.
