OneDrive not found or not created yet
A destination OneDrive must exist before you copy into it. How to create OneDrives for many users at once.
Why it fails
A user's OneDrive is only created when they open it the first time, or when an administrator pre-provisions it. Copying into a OneDrive that doesn't exist fails with 404 / not found for …-my.sharepoint.com/personal/….
How to fix it
- The user must have a license that includes OneDrive (SharePoint Online).
- Pre-provision OneDrives (SharePoint administrator, SharePoint Online PowerShell):
Connect-SPOService -Url https://contoso-admin.sharepoint.com
Request-SPOPersonalSite -UserEmails "jane@contoso.com","raj@contoso.com" -NoWait
Up to 200 users per call. Creation can take up to 24 hours.
- Check it exists:
https://contoso-my.sharepoint.com/personal/jane_contoso_com(dots and @ become underscores). - Run again.
The OneDrive address uses the user's sign-in name at the time it was created. After a rename it may still use the old name – use the address shown in the SharePoint admin center (Active sites, filter OneDrive).
