Troubleshooting
Errors, warnings and how to fix them.
- Fix "403 Access denied" errorsWhy some items report Access denied, and how to give the migration account the access it needs.
- Slow copies and throttling (429 / 503)SharePoint Online limits how fast one account can work. The app slows down and retries automatically.
- Read and export the migration reportFind what was copied, skipped or failed, and export the report to CSV.
- Error: "Sign-in required for … Sign in to the connection again"The Microsoft sign-in of a connection (MFA) expired or was revoked. Sign in again and run the task again – copied items are skipped.
- Error: "SharePoint refused the app's sign-in for …"An App ID connection was turned away by SharePoint: missing Sites.FullControl.All, consent not yet active, a client secret instead of a certificate, or a tenant policy.
- Error: "SharePoint refuses the app on … only"The App ID works on the tenant but one site or one person's OneDrive refuses it: locked, on hold, archived or restricted. Other sites keep copying.
- Error: "SharePoint stopped accepting the app on … after files had copied"SharePoint turned the app away part-way through a large copy and kept refusing it for 10 minutes. Usually temporary – run the task again later.
- Error: "Access denied (401) for … – the app can't read this item"SharePoint refused the app one file, folder or page of items while the rest of the site works – often paths like .svn, .git or wwhelp. Update the app and run again.
- Network errors (net::ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR, "Network error calling …")Connection drops between your computer and Microsoft 365. The app retries; if a few files still fail, run the task again.
- Long paths, long names and special charactersLimits SharePoint puts on names and paths, what the app does about them, and what to rename at the source.
- A task stays on "Starting…" or "Reading…" for a long timeWhat a task does before the first file is copied, how to see its progress, and when to worry.
- A scheduled task did not run, or stopped earlySchedules run while the app is running on that computer. What happens when the PC was off, and what the end time does.
