Why teams choose it

Everything a SharePoint migration needs – in one tool

Built for IT administrators who need a faithful copy, a clear report and no surprises for their users.

No App ID needed – or use one

Connections use your own sign-in – password, MFA and Conditional Access on Microsoft's own page. Nothing to register in Azure. If your IT prefers an app registration, connect with an App ID and certificate instead.

Full fidelity

Version history, Created/Modified dates, authors and editors, lookups, managed metadata and attachments arrive exactly as they were.

Permissions & users mapped

Unique permissions, SharePoint groups and permission levels are recreated. Map old accounts to new ones by e-mail or CSV.

Structure, not just files

Sites and subsites, lists, libraries, content types, site columns, views and navigation – with links rewritten to the new location.

Incremental by design

Re-run a migration with "Copy if newer" to catch up on changes before cut-over. Nothing is duplicated.

Quiet for your users

Permissions are assigned directly – no sharing invitations, no notification e-mails sent to anyone during the migration.

How it works

From sign-in to report in three steps

Connect

Add your source and destination: SharePoint Online with Microsoft sign-in and MFA, on-premises SharePoint with Windows authentication, or a file share.

Choose & map

Pick sites, lists or folders in the side-by-side explorer. Set conflict rules, versions to keep and user mappings once – they're remembered.

Copy & verify

Start now or schedule it. Follow progress live and export a per-item report with every success, warning and error.

Copy structure and content

Move whole sites – subsites included

Select a site and SharePoint Migrator copies it with everything beneath it: libraries with their history, lists with every column type, groups, permission levels and navigation.

  • Copy as a new subsite or merge into an existing site
  • Lookup columns re-pointed to the new lists automatically
  • Site templates and permission levels mapped your way
Copy options: copy as subsite or merge, automatic or manual conflict handling, and items to keep
Copy content & file shares

Pick exactly what moves

Browse source and destination side by side. Select folders, sub-folders or single files – from SharePoint or straight from a Windows drive or network share.

  • Large files uploaded in chunks; names with # and % handled
  • File-share dates kept; temp and system files skipped
  • Replace, skip, keep both or copy only if newer

Reports you can hand to the business

Know what happened to every item

Every task records each file, item, folder and object with its destination path and outcome. Filter, page through and export to CSV.

  • Live progress with cancel at any time
  • Scheduled runs for nights and weekends
  • Throttling handled automatically

Your data moves directly between your systems

SharePoint Migrator runs on your PC and talks only to your SharePoint and your file shares. There is no cloud relay and no third-party copy of your content.

Runs with your permissions

It can do exactly what your account can do – nothing more. Site Collection Administrator on the destination is recommended.

Credentials stay on your PC

Sign-in happens on Microsoft's page. Stored Windows passwords are encrypted for your Windows profile only.

Licensed per computer

Each license runs on one PC. Moving it is self-service: deactivate on the old machine, activate on the new one.

FAQ

Questions IT teams ask us

Why doesn't it need an App ID or admin consent?
SharePoint Migrator signs in the same way your browser does: you sign in on Microsoft's page (with MFA), and the app uses that session. For on-premises SharePoint it uses Windows authentication (NTLM/Kerberos). It therefore has exactly your permissions – no tenant-wide app registration is involved. If your organization prefers one, SharePoint Online connections can also sign in with an App ID and a certificate (the app creates the certificate for you).
What permissions do I need?
Read access to what you copy at the source, and Site Collection Administrator on the destination site collections for a full-fidelity copy (permissions, groups and authors).
Are versions, dates and authors preserved?
Yes. Each file's version history is copied oldest to newest with its own date and author, and the current version keeps its Created, Modified, Created By and Modified By values and column metadata. You can also limit how many versions are copied.
Will users receive sharing e-mails during the migration?
No. Permissions are assigned directly, which never sends notifications, and sharing links are not recreated.
What does the free trial include?
The full product for 7 days on one computer, for up to 500 copied items. A work e-mail address is required, and each e-mail address and each computer can have one trial.
Can I move my license to another computer?
Yes. Open License → Deactivate on this computer on the old PC, then activate the same serial number on the new one. The license term continues.
What isn't migrated?
SharePoint 2010/2013 workflows (retired in SharePoint Online – rebuild them with Power Automate), sharing links, and NTFS permissions from file shares. These are listed in the migration report.
